Story
Lust Academy, an adult visual novel, boasts stunning visuals and a diverse cast of characters ripe for interaction and bonding. Initially grounded in a seemingly ordinary setting—no mention of magic or the famed wizarding academy Cordale—it introduces relationships within your family: sister Samantha, mom Olivia, and Dad Don. Encounters with your ex-girlfriend Irena during a park run set the stage for a narrative that initially guides you through some of your relationships, unveiling lewd scenes amidst a plotline that feels rather plain.
The other part of the story is more interesting. In the beginning you’re offered the choice to play in sandbox mode, the recommended setting by the developer, or as a plain visual novel. Opting for the former, I found myself immersed solely in this mode. The sandbox system is impressively executed. However, the issue lies in the content: approximately 80% of it comprises shallow, mundane conversations lacking depth or progression. The pattern seems to follow a cycle of small talk leading to a mission and eventually an intimate encounter, only to be swiftly forgotten. The dialogue is unoriginal, interspersed with sporadic interesting scenes but ultimately resulting in an overall dull and unexciting experience, lacking in buildup, consequences, or genuine engagement.
The writing could be a lot better – there aren’t many grammar mistakes, but it doesn’t convey any emotion, it’s very plain and shallow. Also, it doesn’t allow the characters to have a lot of personality. Speaking of characters, some of them are versions of popular characters from films or TV series – potions professor Sabrina, Haley Ranger – a girl born into a family of ordinary people, but on her way of becoming a great sorceress, Wendy – a goth girl with black braided hair and her quirky blonde best friend – Alice. It’s like Hogwarts and Evermore combined. It’s helpful that they’ve included a character list where you can see all the characters from the game and read a small description of them, as well as the calendar where you can follow active quests with them and see your progress.
So, how does the game work? In the sandbox version, navigation across the map lets you explore diverse locations: your dorm, the Academy, or Dale during weekends for leisure activities like visiting the strip club, café, spa, or the shop—ideal for purchasing potions and crystals essential for Coliseum duels. Interactions with characters through clicks may lead to various outcomes, including actions or lewd scenes. Additionally, weekdays are packed with spell practice, potion brewing, and house duels. There’s also a book collection feature that allows you to exchange books for house points at the library, contributing to an in-game point system.
Overall, the concept of a wizarding world teeming with diverse creatures and an academy ripe for exploration alongside a variety of characters is appealing. However, the abundance of characters available for deeper connections contributes to the game feeling somewhat shallow, with conversations lacking depth and intimate encounters lacking significance. While the game boasts numerous features like the calendar, Lustagram—a social media platform showcasing bonus renders and character interactions—alongside engaging mini-games such as puzzles and potion-making, it’s the combat in the Coliseum that tests your spellcraft and potion knowledge.
Graphic
The game truly shines in its visual presentation, offering intricate and stunning depictions of characters and environments. Every facet of the game boasts exquisite design and top-notch quality. The animations complement this beautifully. The diverse range of characters adds an exceptional visual variety, ensuring there’s someone to captivate every player’s interest. The sandbox interface is incredibly user-friendly, featuring an eye icon that conveniently toggles to display active characters and available locations.
Gameplay
The gameplay experience feels like a mix of positives and drawbacks. While the sandbox navigation is simple, it doesn’t compensate for the overall lack of substantial content and a compelling plot. Progression feels slow, involving a lot of repetitive clicking. Although you have the freedom to choose your destinations and companions, the absence of meaningful consequences is noticeable. Additionally, the sex scenes lack creativity considering the diverse character set and the expansive world they’ve crafted.
The mini-games, however, inject enjoyable elements into the experience and are essential to ward off potential boredom. Engaging with these games—like collecting books for house points and mastering potions and spells for Coliseum duels—enhances the overall gaming experience.
The music and the sounds are very good and add to the overall quality of the game.
Curley’s comments
Lust Academy, an adult visual novel, captivates with its stunning visuals and diverse character roster. However, the writing falls short, lacking emotional depth despite minimal grammar errors. The game’s visual presentation stands out with intricate character and environment designs, displaying top-tier quality throughout. I am sure the developer put a lot of effort and time in this game, so I suggest you try playing it and see for yourself.
