Even though the concept of dreams in games has been a recurring topic, this particular game offers an interesting twist.
With dreams, magical beings, hot girls, and a mysterious murder that happened in his town, the MC is confused about what his life has turned into.
There is something special about him, but we are not yet sure what it is. If you want to find out more, try playing Lucid.
Story
Dreams. We all have them, and we all experience them from time to time. We dream almost every night, actually, but we don’t remember the majority of our dreams when the morning comes. Still, can you imagine if you could influence your dreams? Sort of like in a lucid dream, when you know you are not awake but somehow determine what will happen? Well, let me just tell you that the MC in this game can do so much more than just that.
You play as a young guy who, after the tragic death of his parents, comes to stay with Claire, a woman who took him in and has been homeschooling him for the past two years. Now, the MC is ready to face the real world and go back to his regular school alongside Emi, who is Claire’s daughter, and a couple of old friends. Claire also has another daughter called Lei, a sexy, blonde college girl who likes to tease you. You two get along well, but we didn’t get any lewd scenes with Lei in this demo version.
You are excited to be back, and you meet a couple of new people at your school. However, some things seem so surreal that you sometimes can’t determine whether you are dreaming or awake. First off, your teacher is called Mr. Bitch, and I think this was a really fun sequence of humorous renderings while playing. Second, it appears that girls are extremely interested in you. First, you meet Kelly, a cute girl with orange hair who wants to recruit you for her track team, but when you refuse, she asks you to go on a date with her. Nice, huh?
You also meet Fran, a sexy and a little bit clumsy pink-haired girl who is Emi’s friend. You two hit it off immediately; you like her dark and twisted sense of humor, and it seems like she really likes you too. She even dreams about you, which leads to some exciting lewd scenes. You get to decide how to proceed from there, wink wink.
The real-life story is interrupted by a sequence of dreams every now and then, and through those scenes, you find out that the MC is not a regular human being. He has the ability to interact with the people in his dreams, which ultimately leads to some mysterious events. This is connected to some creepy murder that happened in your town not so long ago. Is MC connected? Are other characters we meet, like Emi, Fran, or even Kelly, involved too? Who is the sick murderer who gouged his victim’s eyes out? Find out by playing this cool new game by the developer Missfit.
Graphic
This is a 3DCG animated game. At first, I didn’t really like the visuals, but as I continued with the game, they became better and better, and there were lots of animations. The characters are varied and cute, and I think you will like them both for their appearance and their personality. As for the setting, you get a couple of environments: your home, your school, cafes, and public places like parks and streets. There were a couple of visual effects that actually startled me, but in a good way. I really like how they have done this game.
All in all, I like how everything fits together.
Gameplay
This is a visual novel with a mixture of fantasy and sci-fi. As you follow the story, you get some options, especially with girls and what you want to do with them. I think that it is nicely done; you follow two story paths, the real-life one and the dream one, so it never really gets boring. There are sound effects, visual effects, lots of animations, and background music.
Curley’s comments
This was a really fun demo to play. I didn’t really expect much from it, to be honest, but I was pleasantly surprised. I think the story is really original, and I like the characters and the MC. Of course, there is always some room for improvement, but I think this is a really good initial release.
I like that the dialogues are simple, they are sometimes humorous, and I like the relationships the MC has with other characters.
I’m really curious to find out what the connection is between the MC and the mysterious creatures called Lunes. According to the developer, lunes are unique beings with unique abilities when it comes to dreams. It seems like MC is one of them, but that is only vaguely seen in the demo, so I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.
