Story
Leap of Faith is a completed adult game, or visual novel, with many choices and great replayability value. Its standout feature is its compelling story, featuring characters with richly layered personalities and narratives that can deeply engage players.
You play a young guy who has had lots of disappointments in his love life. Now he is ready to move on and get back into the world. You do this with the support of your best friend, Chris – you arrange to meet him at a local diner. It’s at this diner where you encounter a captivating waitress named Kira, who becomes your first romantic interest (LI) in the game. As the story progresses, you have opportunities to go bowling with Kira and also meet one of her friends, Robin. You get a lot of choices regarding girls and relationships in this game; offering both real decisions and dialogue options that significantly influence the narrative. Everything makes sense and follows your actual decisions, so everything you do or say is impactful.
The character’s personality design is very unique. This is something that truly impressed me while I was playing—the characters are believable and have an outstanding amount of realness. This made my experience very immersive, and I believe it’s not hard to get attached to these great characters.
The topics of the game include romance and, of course, some lewd scenes, but if you’re playing this only because you hope to get a lot of sex scenes, this game isn’t for you. So, making the right decisions will get you there, but the focus isn’t on that. The game places a stronger emphasis on meaningful choices and character development. Furthermore, it delves into sensitive subjects such as suicide and depression, particularly concerning a character named Cece, whom you have the opportunity to save from a dire situation at a bridge. You can follow her story and the evolution of your relationship while also deciding how to pursue other characters, including your ex, Stephanie, and several other romantic interests.
The relationship dynamics in the game are well-crafted, featuring extensive conversations and progress with the various girls that will either endear them to you or not. Leap of Faith delivers a diverse range of scenes, from dramatic and comedic to emotional, showcasing the care invested in its creation. Additionally, the game successfully captures the essence of strong friendships – your bromance with Chris, with moments of genuine humour that had me laughing out loud. In sum, Leap of Faith stands out for its exceptional writing and storytelling.
Graphics
Contrary to the story, I didn’t think that the renders and the models were top notch. Personally, I didn’t find most of the character models particularly attractive, with the possible exceptions being Lexi and Steph. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t say there are any significant flaws in the renders and animations; rather, I have a sense that they might be somewhat outdated, which can make them appear slightly less impressive in terms of quality.
The animations are fine, but are quite short. Quite honestly, even though the graphics maybe aren’t the best, I truly didn’t mind because the story was that good.
Gameplay
Despite being labeled as a VN, this game offers lots of impactful decisions that significantly influence the storyline, resulting in branching narratives. Among the six potential love interests, players are allowed to select one or two characters to focus on as the central romantic arcs, a choice that occurs in the middle of the game. Personally, I didn’t mind this, but some players may have anticipated more diversity in their romantic options.
Nonetheless, the game offers a lot of different paths to explore and choices to make, ensuring high replay value. I’ve genuinely enjoyed every storyline for each character, as I find satisfaction in the challenge of making the right decisions tailored to each character’s preferences.
Moreover, the game has an exceptional soundtrack that greatly enhances the overall immersive experience. Coupled with its quirky dialogue and adept storytelling, especially when addressing sensitive topics like mental health battles, this game firmly establishes itself as one of the finest offerings in its genre.
A really good example of the developer’s thorough planning in this game is the end-of-episode summaries. These summaries serve as a valuable tool for tracking the current status of your relationships and identifying any scenes that you haven’t yet explored. This feature proves immensely beneficial due to the wealth of choices available throughout the game.
Curley’s comments
With this emotional rollercoaster of a story, you truly won’t care that much for the graphics or the sex. Sure, there is some lewd content, but I stayed because of the characters and the replayability value. It’s a completed game consisting of 8 episodes in which you will be able to shape the trajectory of MC’s love life.
