Hotel Review is the first release from Panosxdix.
This visual novel follows the life of a young guy who lives with a couple of women.
The plot revolves around which one of them is MC going to take on his trip; he can only pick one woman, and all of the female characters are eager to go with him.
Story
To be honest, there is not much to write about. The story seems like a shaggy spin-off of another, equally shaggy drama movie. It’s hard to get into the game because of the badly-written dialogues that clearly weren’t proofread. They didn’t really pay attention to grammar and punctuation. The writer may have had a good idea initially, but the general execution doesn’t really look that good. I would say it is wannabe sexy, but it came out…weird?
The overall story focuses on a couple of characters. You follow them in the mall, the dressing rooms and their house, but not much is going on. All of the female characters are interested in MC, and every single one of them wants to go with him on this mysterious trip.
One character who isn’t directly connected to MC is Karen, a shop assistant in a mall. She, on the other hand, is not able to go with him, but she takes advantage of the opportunity to blow him in one of the dressing rooms. Oh, well, what else could a female character in games like this do?
There is some sexual tension and erotic scenes with animations, but the overall visual quality makes it difficult to get into the narrative. Even though you have your average harem theme intertwined with incest and all kinds of sexual actions planned, do you still want to play a game that visually looks that bad?
Graphic
The already mentioned bad rendering was the first thing I noticed when playing this game; they resemble the style of anime, but the quality is awful.
With that in mind, the gameplay quality is also lower, and it was hard to focus on the story. The proportions, frame width, and focal length make the characters and the environments look weird and out of place.
Because of that, the female characters appear very muscular and buff, and one other male character we encounter has a very oddly looking body, especially his chest.
Gameplay
First of all, the demo version is fairly short, however, the developer did mention that he had changed the appearance of some characters, and we can see that in this first version. The whole game appears a bit superficially done, but it might be that the developer doesn’t have a lot of experience and will improve in future releases. There is also no voice-over or any kind of special effects. The animations seem to be created in a loop, and the movements appear robotic and unnatural.
Secondly, the idea I got from the description of the game was that it would depend on the choices you make, and that the main theme was corruption, but I didn’t really get that feel while playing.
I’m not saying it’s unprofessional, but the developers surely lack knowledge and consistency, at least in the case of renders and language.
Planned tags that were listed are: Anal sex, light bdsm, incest, creampie, harem, footjob, masturbation, oral sex, voyeurism, etc.
Curley’s comments
I can surely say that I am not very eager to continue playing this game. I’ve seen enough in the demo, and it’s really hard to focus when the renders and language are that bad. On that note, I would happily give it another chance if the graphics and languages improved in later versions.
Although the tags look promising, and there is no NTR involved, which is good for the majority of players, I don’t really plan on replaying it. There is always room for improvement, so I hope that SleepyDevs will take all those negative comments and turn them into fuel and inspiration for advancement and upgrades.
