Story
This adult VN is comprised of different stories which are all connected somehow. You can select which one you want to play, but also decide what you want to say, or do.
In summary, the game cultivates a somewhat dark ambiance, amplified by eerie music that enhances the immersion within the stories. You assume the role of Zeno, a socially awkward individual who navigates life steadily and lives independently, yet frequently encounters various people, predominantly women.
Personally, I find the guy creepy, and it doesn’t help that this game contains rape, even though few could argue it’s not rape because the victim eventually starts enjoying it. Nevertheless, it’s not consensual, so I won’t sugarcoat that.
Currently, there are six stories available to play: “Dirty Laundry,” “Cinderella,” “Devils,” “Handcuffs,” “Kiss Me,” and a special Halloween edition titled “Brain.” Personally, I found “Brain” the most appealing, as it offers an intriguing, slightly suspenseful, and highly mysterious experience.
While the other stories also carry an air of mystery, it primarily revolves around the workings of Zeno’s mind. It does feel somewhat unusual to have intimate encounters and traumatic experiences presented in such proximity within the game. Furthermore, there is an illusion of choice, as the decisions you make don’t really matter.
Graphic
The visual component of this game also leans towards a darker, somewhat melancholic palette with shades of gray. Character design is well-executed, and I particularly appreciate the appearance of the main character, as it aligns perfectly with his personality. I find it difficult to picture him as anything other than a sleazeball.
Artistic elements are interwoven into the narrative, and I admire the arrangement of renders and scenes. However, it’s worth noting that while some scenes incorporate animation, the majority of intimate encounters rely on repetitive renders, resulting in a somewhat robotic movement.
One character that stood out to me in terms of appearance is Susan, featured in the Halloween special. Her unique aesthetic and striking beauty truly caught my attention.
Gameplay
The six available stories in the game are accompanied by music and sound effects. Personally, I found this aspect a bit jarring, as certain scenes didn’t quite align with my preferences. However, this is a subjective matter. I wouldn’t label the game as bad, but it clearly caters to a specific audience.
Nonetheless, it’s evident that the development effort has been very detailed. However, I was less than thrilled with the fact that the choices made throughout the game don’t carry significant weight in the end. While they may occasionally dictate the course of a scene, they often lack a substantial impact on the overall narrative.
