Returning to August, your hometown, didn’t exactly go as planned.
You are happy to see your ex-roomies Sam and Lily, but things are different now.
The girls are not so little anymore, and the town seems to have changed.
Story
This is a fun, excellently written new VN with witty dialogue and wholesome characters. The premise of the story described by the developer is different than when you’re actually playing the game because this version is quite short.
Nevertheless, the game will offer some mystery and drama, but I can’t really write about that because it hasn’t been clearly seen in the game so far. The developer explained the following: You leave the service and head back to your hometown, the mysterious August City, where nothing is as it seems. Mysterious events are taking place, many of which seem to be connected to the enigmatic Price Industries, a mega-corporation run by the ruthless Goro Price that has established operations in your city.
Yeah, it seems like a compelling story, but since the demo was a bit shorter—about 45 minutes of gameplay, depending on your reading speed—you cannot really delve deeper into the story.
Still, you can meet interesting characters: Sam, a cute blonde girl, and Lily. By default, they are your ex-roommates, but maybe the developer aimed at something else; I’m not sure. Anyway, here you can see some really good, humorous dialogue, and some lewd scenes are already taking place. I enjoyed the writing a lot, and I like the characters as well as the MC. He’s not your average adult VN creep, so that felt like a breath of fresh air to me.
Anyway, I will definitely keep an eye on this game, but I have to wait for more updates.
Graphic
The renders in this one are high-quality, although I am not really a fan of this anime style. I like the characters, though. The two main girls (for now) are Sam, a cute, fit blonde girl, and Lily, a green-eyed brunette who seems equally sweet. The lewd scenes are nicely done, but they sometimes lack a bit of buildup. Still, I think the visual part of the game is equally as good as the writing.
Gameplay
As I’ve said, you get about 45 minutes of gameplay. This is just to get your feet wet, but you can meet the main characters and get the overall feel of the game. This game is rather character-driven and not really based on decisions. You do get some choices, and they are really fun, so again, kudos to the writer. The music is also nice and fitting.
Curley’s comments
Alright, what a short and sweet one this has been. I like the renders, and I like the writing. The gameplay was fun and interesting. This seems like a great start to a game with a lot of potential. I’m sure you’ll like the characters and enjoy playing as the MC.
Still, the story seems to be in the background for now; the focus is on establishing the relationship the MC has with Lily and Sam. All in all, I am really curious to see how the story progresses.
