Who are the DIKs? And what is this game about? Well, if you are new to the community and haven’t already played or even heard about this awesome game, make sure to give it a go.
You play as a college freshman at Burgmeiester and Royce. There, your life takes a whole different turn.
Story
Currently, the game consists of a total of 9 episodes, and it has been revealed that the full game will contain at least 16 episodes.
In short, this is a college-themed game with lots of humor and sex, wild parties, and hot girls, but also a deep story where you are able to strengthen the bonds with your college buddies and your female love interests. It reminds me of some American college films from 1990s and the early 2000s, and the overall tone of the game is mostly light but with some deeper elements. First of all, I’d like to warn you about spoilers, so if you haven’t played through the whole game yet, I suggest you stop here.
The main topic of the game is the MC and his new life at college. After finishing high school, he decides to attend Burgmeister and Royce University. Originally being from a low-income family and growing up without a mother, he suffered bullying in high school, but he grew up to be confident and learned how to defend himself with the help of his father, Neil. You can meet MC’s father early in the game and can notice they have a great relationship, having been close all of MC’s life. I have to mention that, even though this game clearly contains graphic content, nudity, sex, and alcohol and drug abuse, it is also filled with wholesome moments and was done with impeccable consistency.
In the beginning of the game, you can choose your name, and you find out some basic information about MC. He is 18 years old, comes from a poor family, lives with his hard-working father, and one of his main interests is martial arts and playing the guitar.
In episode 1, which was released in 2019, the MC moves from his hometown, leaving behind his father and his first love interest in the game, Josy. Josy later joins him at college, but in that phase of the game, he has many other girls waiting in line. Now, don’t get me wrong, this isn’t your average adult-games-Don-Juan who can have basically every chick he wants; they aren’t exactly lining up for you in this game, but you have to be careful and pay attention to your choices to get some, which is one of the main aspects of the game.
Even though the core story pretty much plays out the same regardless of the choices you make in between, there are some aspects that can be changed through them. The branching is usually different in terms of love interests and lewd scenes, making it interesting to see how the relationships with mostly female characters would come about.
The interactions you have with other characters (and there are many of them) affect the progress of the story and your relationships. You are given options, which later on determine something called DIK or CHICK affinity. Some choices you make improve your DIK affinity, and others can lead to an improvement in your CHICK affinity. Either way, this is related to how other people perceive you and which opportunities you get in the future. I like how many paths this can create for the player; it makes the game very immersive, and you really get drawn to some characters pretty soon.
Once you get admitted to college, everything starts happening at once. You meet new people, get into trouble, and have to juggle between your social life and your studies, all while trying to pledge into Delta Iota Kappa fraternity, also known as the DIKs. There are some fraternities and sororities at Burgmeister and Royce. The newest ones are the DIKs; the elitist one is the Alpha Nu Omega, a.k.a. the Preps; the student-athlete ones are called the Tri-Alpha (or the Jocks); the nerdy one is the Tri-Beta; and the all-girls one is a sorority called the HOTs, the Eta Omicron Tau.
After deciding to pledge for the DIKs, the MC has to pass through Hell Week. He does this alongside Derek, who often calls MC Ass-man, and these two become “Maggot brothers”, having to stick together in order to complete the 12 tasks of Hell Week. Some of the tasks include egging the preps’ house, wearing a dildo helmet for 24 hours, giving a wedgie to a nerd, and even fucking a teacher.
The character development and consistency when it comes to the characters’ behavior and style of speech are remarkable. The characters are so well put together, both from the outside and from the inside. There are a couple of predetermined love interests for MC, like Josy, the girl you meet in the beginning when you work with her at the store, and other girls in college, like Maya, your roommate, the librarian, Isabella, and the Preps member, Jill. There are other girls to pursue, like the HOTs Presidents Quinn and Sage, but MC’s relationship with them varies depending on the choices you make. Again, the choices can make or break some possibilities with other girls. For example, if you play your cards right, things can get sexual with Quinn pretty early, but they can also lead to a more romantic turn of events.
The girls you meet are pretty varied, both physically and personality-wise. There are two groups of girls in the game: the main ones (Josy, Maya, Jill, Sage, and Isabella) and the side ones (some HOT members, faculty members, and the Pink Rose members, a strip club that the DIKs often visit). The relationships with the main girls always remain at least on the friend level, while the relationships with the side ones vary and can be changed with decisions you make. RPs (relationship points) can only be generated with the main girls, and you get a summary of them at the end of each episode, depending on the choices you’ve made. Even though you don’t get RPs with the side girls, some aspects of the core story can be narrowed if you decide not to engage in pursuing them.
As for the writing, I was absolutely amazed by the level of wit and great humor, and the thing that really blew me away is how the writer easily navigates through all of the different paths.
The game also features mini-games and a free roam mode.
Graphic
This game easily has one of the best visuals I’ve ever seen. It is animated and features lots of different characters and environments. The models are created in DAZ, and it’s a RenPy game. As for the MC, he is known to be popular among the girls, not just because he is endowed but also because of his personality and charisma. He has dark hair and light eyes and is in great physical shape.
As for the girls, Maya and Josy are light-haired with light eyes, and Jill and Isabella are dark-haired with blue eyes. Quinn has a silver pixie haircut, and Sage is a gorgeous redhead. I’m not going to spoil all the fun and go on describing the other girls you meet, but you can meet both the young girls and the MILFs.
This game is animated and features a variety of sounds, great music, and great transitions, making it one of the most immersive and enjoyable games ever made.
Gameplay
The gameplay consists of a couple of elements. First, you have your core story, which can be slightly altered by the choices you make. The main girls generate RPs, and the side chicks don’t, even though choosing not to pursue them can result in getting fewer renders. You can improve or decrease both your DIK and CHICK scores, which will later affect your choices and relationships.
There is a free-roam mode where you can go exploring, study, collect money, and play a variety of mini-games. These mini-games can be enabled or disabled . Still, if you decide not to play them, you will get the opportunity to get the rewards in other ways. There are 3 types of mini games: phone games, tests, and story games. By completing these tasks, you can access additional pre-rendered images that can be viewed in The Gallery with replays of the sex scenes.
Phone games like Brawler or Shuffle can be played on your phone during free roam mode. Brawler is a fighting game where you can choose your opponents and attacks or defenses. This one is played on your keyboard.
Tests are a part of your studies, and depending on your class, you can either have an English one (a word game), a math one (a number game), or a social studies one (basically, you have to ‘listen’ to your classmate and later on answer her questions).
Story games happen within the episodes, and they include drinking games, playing tennis, painting, pancake flipping, basketball, beach ball, or the mansion game, where you get to repair the DIK mansion after it is vandalized by the Jocks.
The theme songs and the music are great, and it is one of the hallmarks of the game.
Curley’s comments
This is one of the best adult games I’ve played. I like it because it is definitely not a classic porn game, but it feels more like a game with some porn in it, as it’s not forced or rushed. The blending of free roam mode with VN mode is pretty effectively done, the flow of the game is impressive, and the paths are numerous.
Each episode is pretty long and features lots of characters, opportunities, and mini-games, which are not confusing.
The models are great, the animations even better, there are plenty of in-game sound effects and music that help you get into the story, the writing is detailed and filled with humor, and the consistency is spotless.
Still, there is one tiny little thing to add now that I’ve played through all of the episodes. With time, it gets a bit tedious to play the mini-games, but they can be disabled before starting each episode. For some players, there could be too much “grind” from time to time. I didn’t mind it, but there are some instances in free roam or similar situations where it is not clear where to go and what exactly to do even though there is a quest list.
